PDF Crochet pattern for the 385 vest!
Just a very nice stashbusting vest, no more no less. Use whatever scraps you have on hand!
This pattern is for intermediate crocheters and up
Size
To fit chest
80-90 (95-105) 110-120 (125-135) 140-150 cm
Chest circumference
Measured flat across the front, not including the straps.
39 (44) 49 (54) 59 cm
Sizing note
In order to not have the shoulders extend into an extreme drop shoulder, the vest will not cover as much of the chest/back for chest sizes over 110 cm as it will for chest sizes under 105 cm. To offset the difference, you’ll instead make longer side straps. Choose size depending on desired fit. I have a chest measurement of 82 cm and I’m wearing a size 95-105
Length
45 (49) 52 (55) 58 cm
Length is customizable, but if you choose to make the vest longer, keep in mind that you might need more yarn.
Materials
Yarn: Approximately 200-220 (230-240) 250-260 (280-290) 320-330 g of any light worsted/dk weight yarn, or yarns held together that add up to that same weight.
My vest is crocheted completely in leftover yarn, but you can of course also use brand new yarn for a solid color vest!
Crochet hook: 4,5mm
Other: 4 stitch markers
Gauge for 10x10 cm: 8 stitches by 7 rows in pattern on hook 4,5mm, or hook needed to meet gauge.
Pattern - dc mesh:
First row: turn, ch 4, dc 1 in the 5th st from hook, *ch 1, skip 1 st, dc 1 in the next st*, repeat *-* to EOR.
Next row: turn, ch 4, skip the first dc, dc 1 in the next dc, *ch over the next ch, dc 1 in the next dc*, repeat *-* to EOR.
1 dc + 1 ch = 1 mesh st.
The chains at the beginning of every row count as the first mesh stitch of row.
The last double crochet that is not followed by a chain counts as the last mesh stitch of row.
Video tutorial for how to find the third loop and how to crochet an I-cord can be found on my instagram, in the ’Techniques’ highlight.
